SOLDIER MARATHON

Planned by runners for runners

The Soldier Marathon is a long distance endurance race held in November in Columbus, Georgia at the National Infantry Museum. In its inaugural race in 2010 the Soldier Marathon attracted over 900 runners from 33 States and 2 international runners (Brazil and Japan).

The Soldier Marathon includes a full marathon race (26.2 miles), a half marathon race (13.1 miles), a relay marathon for teams of 5 runners each running a 5 or 6 mile leg to complete the 26.2 miles, and new for 2011 is a kids marathon in which kids ages 6 to 12 can run their 26.2 miles marathon over a 3 month period of time ending on the date of the race.

The race course starts at the world famous National Infantry Museum and runs through Ft. Benning, Georgia, the home of the world’s best military installation, and then along the beautiful River Walk to Uptown Columbus and back to the National Infantry Museum.

The beneficiaries of the Soldier Marathon are the National Infantry Museum, which memorializes the history of the American soldier, and the House of Heroes, which helps soldiers rebuild their homes.

The mission of the Soldier Marathon is to salute the American soldier, to showcase our community, and to give runners a great experience.
